This listing is for the Masquerade Shawl pattern. It was specially designed to show off hand-painted yarn, but it really does look great in solids, too. While the pattern shows off the colors in a variegated yarn, the texture is the focus when knit in a solid or semi-solid. The pattern is also great for that special skein of handspun yarn, as the edging can easily be started at any time, so you can be sure to use as much of your skein as possible.
The pattern calls for a fingering-weight yarn. One skein (4 oz) will make a shawlette, or you could use 2 skeins (or any amount in between) for a larger shawl size.
The Masquerade Shawl is an adventurous beginner to intermediate pattern, and required skills are casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn overs, and binding off, as well as following pattern directions to wrap stitches for the mock cables.
